Nomis Wins Intersport Award
SYNOPSIS
The Nomis UK team recently received an award from Intersport retailers, who voted them the Best Up-and-Coming Sports Brand across all sports categories (not just football).
The Intersport awards evening was held at the Renaissance Hotel in Birmingham on September 12, 2005. The awards were voted on by Intersport retailers. The categories were for "Best Supplier", "Best Footwear Brand", "Best Textile Brand" and "Best Up and Coming Brand". Alistair Woodhead, Nomis UK MD, accepted the award from Chris Broad the former England cricket opener.
It is very rare for a new brand, such as Nomis, to receive the award for the Best Up and Coming Brand. Normally this award goes to improving brands, such as those that have changed ownership, made marketing breakthroughs and the like. For Nomis to be unanimously voted as the winner of this award after only seven months in the UK market is a fantastic result, showing how much the retailers value a technically innovative new brand.
Beating the other 52 brands that were present at the awards ceremony to this honour was also a massive boost for Nomis, and was testament to the fact that it is possible for new brands to compete with the adidases and nikes of the sports world. It also showed that retailers will, indeed, buy into new brands, particularly if they can be shown to deliver a serious point of difference into the market place.
So much has happened for Nomis in such a short space of time, that the UK management have had to rollout next year’s staff recruitment to cope with the amount of retailers in Intersport and other buying groups who want to stock the brand.
